Fr. Emmanuel Atajanyan

Fr. Emmanuel (Armen) Atajanyan was born in Erevan, Armenia in 1967. Having
graduated from school he was admitted to the Engineering University
in Erevan. From 1986 until 1988 served in the regular army as a sergeant. In the summer of 1989 volunteer work in Gyumri (previously Leninakan),
helping people in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that hit
Armenia the previous year. In 1991 graduated from the Engineering University in Erevan. Parallel to
engineering studies was prepared as a teacher of religion at a course
organized by the Araratian Diocese of Erevan. During this period he
has studied also spiritual music. In June of 1992 came to the Holy City of Jerusalem as a student of the
Theological Seminary of the Monastery of St. James. In December of 1992
was ordained a deacon in the Cathedral of St. James. In 1995 was graduated
from the Seminary and was ordained a priest by His Beatitude Torkom
II Manoogian, Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem. From 1997 to 2000 Fr. Emmanuel was the dean of the Theological Seminary.
Currently he is a Member of Synod and Supreme Religious Court of the
Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem. Father Emmanuel is studying for the MA degree in Comparative Religion. |
