On Tuesday, May 7, 2002 Patriarch Mesrob II of Istanbul was guest of the Armenian Studies Program for lunch, in the Beit Meirsdorf Faculty Club on the Mt. Scopus Campus of the Hebrew University.

His Beatitude was in Jerusalem for celebration of Easter according to The Jerusalem Armenian reckoning, which was that weekend. Patriarch Mesrob is an alumnus of the Armenian Studies program and, over the years, he has sustained a close relationship with it. Three years ago, on occasion of the celebration of 30 Years of Armenian Studies, Patriarch Mesrob's was guest of honour at a Symposium devoted to Armenian Pilgrimage to the Holy Land, one his own of great interests. On that occasion he issued a kontag, a Patriarchal Bull, honouring Professor Stone and the Armenian Studies program.

This year, here only for a brief visit, he still found time to visit and receive an update on the work and development of the Armenian Studies program.

He was hosted at lunch by Professor Michael Stone and Dr. Sergio La Porta. After lunch, he set out directly for the airport and his trip back to Istanbul.
