Elizabeth Bloch-Smith did her M.A. and Ph.D. at the University
of Chicago, Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations.
She has over 30 years of field experience, and has taught various university courses on Biblical and
Ancient Near Eastern Archaeology since 1984.
She is the author of Judahite
Burial Practices and Beliefs about the Dead and numerous book reviews and
articles.
Her interests are in early Israelite and surrounding cultures, Israelite religion, women in the ancient Near East, and Jerusalem through the ages.
