analysis study on some Eastern Terra Sigillata, in the Volume of
the Caesarea hippodrome publication (S. Porat, ed.), Jerusalem,
19 pages (accepted for publication)
In this study we have used the data that were obtained in the
Nuclear Reactor of the Technical University of Budapest, Hungary.
ETS-II, a brown/red coated sigillata was found in large
quantities in Caesarea Maritima in Israel, a site that has been
the transito-harbor during the Roman period. The chemical
compositions of this ETS-II ware proves that at least five new
forms have to be added to the ETS-II repertory. The origin of the
vessels is still an enigma: we were not able to trace it to a
specific site. However, Israel has to be excluded. The ware comes
from overseas.
