Gunneweg, Jan and Mommsen, H. 1995, Instrumental Neutron
Activation Analysis of vessels and cult objects, in Horvat
Qitmit, by I. Beit-Arieh (Ed.) Monograph series 11 of the Tel
Aviv University, pp. 280-286
In this study, the Late Iron Age II cult objects of the Qitmit
Shrine and the painted vessels found at the Qadesh Barnea
fortress in the Sinai of Egypt were compared and proved to have a
common origin that has nothing to do with Edomite pottery (Edom
in Jordan) but that all was made in the triangle Arad-Qitmit-Beer
Sheba in today Israel. It is becoming clearer by the day that the
charateristics in the ceramics by most archaeologists recognized
as being "Edomite", i.e. as coming or being influenced by Edom in
Jordan have to be re-thought. In fact, Pirchiya Beck proved that
the anthropomorphis figurines were more Phoenician then anything
else. It also seems that Moab in Jordan has something to do with
it too.
