| Arriving in IsraelFor those of you who come from abroad, you will arrive at Ben Gourion International Airport Terminal 3. After passing customs, you will arrive in the large Hall. Look there for the Money Change boot where you can change your Euros into Israeli Sheqels. One Euro is about 5.0 Sheqels The airport is located approximately 25 km from Jerusalem, therefore, to get to Beit Belgia--the Hebrew name for the Belgium House, our workgroup meeting place--, Science Campus, Givat Ram, Jerusalem) you walk to the EXIT of Terminal 3, take a right turn to a large elevator, push the 2 button and arrive at a street level where all the busses, taxis and vans or rented cars are located. Follow the signs! In case of doubt, ask the airport personel. Take a "Nesher Van", which is a shuttle, from the airport terminal to Jerusalem telling the driver where exactly you want to go in Jerusalem. Tell the driver to drive to Beit Belgia, Givat Ram Campus in Jerusalem. This one-way trip costs exactly 50 Sheqels or about 10 Euros. One could take a taxi from Ben Gourion Airport to Jerusalem, which would cost about 35 Euros. Fix the price before you step into the taxi. Also your suitcase is taxed! |
Hotel accomodation in JerusalemBeit Belgia, i.e. the Belgium House, is the Faculty Club and Guest House of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and is located on the University Edmond & Lily Safra Science Campus at Givat Ram with the National (University) Library at its premises. Nearby--within walking distance--are the Israel Museum, the Shrine of the Book (Dead Sea scrolls) and the Bible Lands Museum as well as the Botanical Garden and the Knesset, Israel's House of Parliament. Rooms are single or double rooms. For the prices of a room at Beit Belgia, please, look at its own website. An electric kettle (Voltage in Israel is 220V.) and glasses can be found in the cupboard above the desk in your room. In the suites, supplies can be found in the kitchenette. Telephone can be used from the room. Fax is available at the office. Check-Out time at departure is at 12:00. Breakfast is served to hotel guests in the cafeteria on Sunday-Friday from 7:30-9:00 A.M. Lunch - Meat and vegetarian lunches are served in the dining room Sunday-Thursday from 12:00 till 15:00 o’clock. Guests of the hotel, by showing their key are entitled to the discount price of members of Beit-Belgia. Cafeteria - The cafeteria is open Sunday-Thursday from 8:00 till 20:00 o’clock. It serves salads, toasts with vegetables, blintzes , soup, sandwiches, cakes and a variety of cold, hot and alcoholic drinks. Money, passports and Air Fair tickets can be deposited in the safe at the front desk. This service is operational from Sunday to Thursday, between 8:00-15:00 In case there is a mosquito, a repellent device can be obtained in the office. Payment for your room, telephone calls and extra meals can be done according to what the Beit Belgia website describes, during office hours (8.00-15.00). |

Money Services and Postal Information Automatic banking machines (ATMs) are situated in the administration building, at the entrance to the University Campus, and outside the fence of the University. Changing money can be done at the post office at the administration building. Stamps can be purchased in the office, Stamped mail can be sent from the office. Transportation by car You can reach Beit-Belgia by car via both university entrances, one near the administration building and Botanical gardens-Israel Museum entrance. On weekends only the administration-building gate is open. Your key to your room in Beit-Belgia allows you entrance through both gates. Parking can be found next to Beit-Belgia. If you have a car please ask for a parking certificate at the office, which will enable you to park in front of Beit Belgia. If you come by Rental Car, let the Beit Belgia know before so that they can order an OK for entering the Campus at the gate. Public Transportation From the center of the city one can use bus 9 that reaches the main gate of the University (near the administration building). Busses no. 9 and 28 stop near Beit-Belgia. Taxi To order a taxi dial 9-6254444 (Rehavia Taxis) or 9-5000101 (Beit Hakerem Taxis) The Nesher Van shuttle service to the Airport (9 Euro per person) should be ordered through the Beit Belgia office one day prior to departure at office hours. You will be picked up at Beit-Belgia. Emergency In case of emergency, if you are unable to contact the office, please call security by dialing 6-85000 If you request to stay longer and\or to get an organized tour of any part of Jerusalem and\or Israel, please contact the office Sunday-Thursday 8:00-15:00.
